Port Moody Community Band

This community wind ensemble is open for anyone to join so long as they play a standard wind ensemble instrument (listed below) and are capable of playing at the level expected of a Canadian High School honour band (Grade 3-4 music). We play marches, classic band repertoire from composers such as Holst, Grainger, and Vaughn Williams, arrangements of both contemporary and classical music, as well as current concert band repertoire. Rehearsals run from 7:00-9:00PM on Tuesdays at Port Moody Secondary School in the band room. Recommended minimum 5 years playing experience.

Rehearsals And Schedules

Rehearsals take place at Port Moody Secondary School from 7-9PM on Tuesdays from September 16 until June 16 with standard concerts falling on rehearsal nights. A standard season usually includes 30+ rehearsals, 4 concerts, a fundraiser, and a Remembrance Day ceremony with potential for more performances.
Concert Dates are tentative and subject to change, additional concerts may be added throughout the year as opportunity arises:

November 11, 2024 - Remembrance Day Ceremony (Port Moody Legion)
Dec 2, 2025 - Winter Fundraiser (Heritage Woods Secondary Theatre)
Dec 9, 2025 - Holiday Concert
March 10, 2025 - Spring Concert
June 9, 2025 - Year End Concert

Fees and Policies

All members are offered a no-commitment trial run up to the end of each month after which point a registration fee is required. Once paid, the member is committed to attending rehearsals and performing with the group for the remainder of the year and the registration fee becomes non-refundable upon payment. Please feel free to register for the group here and you will be sent an information package inviting you to your first rehearsal. Please note, by the end of your trial month, payment will be due for the season and can be paid with cheque or online here. Prorated fees available for late registrants.
